The honest answers.
01What happens if the internet or Wi-Fi goes down?+
Nothing visible. E-Ink only needs power when the menu changes — the last published menu stays permanently displayed, even with no power or connection at all. As soon as the connection is back, the displays sync automatically.
02How long does the battery really last?+
It depends on how often you update: many months with daily menu changes, considerably longer with weekly ones. The batteries are swappable — we supply charged spares, and staff can swap them in seconds. Each display's battery level is visible in the dashboard, and we reach out before anything runs out.
03Does the device survive tough daily use — splashes, cleaning, bumps?+
Yes. The housing is splash-proof and wipeable, built for real-world use, not the quiet office. And if something does break: a replacement unit within 48 hours, included in the subscription.
04How fast does a change reach every display?+
You publish in the dashboard, the displays fetch the new menu via the base station — usually within a few minutes, on every display simultaneously. The refresh itself takes a few seconds and is visible as a brief flash, which is why we recommend updating during a quiet moment.
05Do I need to buy hardware or handle any tech myself?+
No. Vitria is a rental: displays, base station, batteries, software, updates and replacements are all included in the monthly price. We install everything in person — all across Switzerland.
06Does it also work on the terrace?+
Indoors and on covered terraces, yes. E-Ink is brilliantly readable in sunlight — better than any tablet. Only in frost (below 0 °C) does the display become sluggish; for the winter outdoor season we recommend bringing the standard displays inside. For permanent outdoor use we offer weatherproof outdoor formats — an A-frame board and a street panel, priced per project (see below).
07Are there displays that can stand outside permanently — e.g. an A-frame board?+
Yes. For permanent outdoor use we offer weatherproof, IP65-certified e-paper displays (−15 °C to 65 °C, formats up to 42″) — as an A-frame board (31.2″) or a larger street panel. Because size, mounting and location vary so much, we price these formats per project — hence «price on request».
08Do you also build large outdoor ad spaces or billboards?+
Not off the shelf. Classic billboards and facade advertising are their own industry with their own formats, permits and cost structures — that can't seriously be sold as a fixed-price product. If you have a larger format in mind, talk to us: we'll honestly assess whether and how it can be done with e-paper.
09Can I start small and expand later?+
Absolutely — that's the normal case. Many venues start with a single entrance display or five table displays and expand after a few weeks. All products run on the same system: whatever you've entered once appears instantly on every display you rent later, too.
10Are the displayed prices legally compliant (price-display regulations)?+
Yes. Swiss price-display regulations require clearly readable price lists on-site, in sufficient number, including VAT. That's exactly what Vitria automatically ensures: every published menu shows prices including VAT, identical and current on every display — no forgotten note with an old price.
11What about multiple languages?+
One click in the dashboard, and the menu appears in German, English or French — on individual tables or throughout the venue. Ideal for venues with an international audience.
